The Committee
The Shrewsbury 24 Campaign’s origins was a meeting at The Casa in Liverpool in August 2006. Between 40-50 trade unionists from Merseyside and beyond attended and from this a steering committee was formed to obtain justice for the convicted North Wales building workers. Over the following years, as often occurs, some left the committee and new faces joined. From 2011 the core of the Campaign Committee for the next ten years, until justice was won, were:

Affiliates and supporters
The Campaign worked tirelessly to raise the case of the Shrewsbury pickets amongst the trade union movement. It sought and obtained affiliations from 21 national trade unions as shown below and hundreds of regional committees, branches, trades councils and CLPs. This support was the mainstay of the campaign through the hard years of campaigning to uncover the truth about the convictions of the pickets and to overturn this miscarriage of justice.
The Campaign’s banner was seen on national and local demonstrations, at the Durham Miners’ Gala, Tolpuddle, the Orgreave Truth & Justice Campaign’s annual march in South Yorkshire and many others. Information sheets about the campaign, updated regularly, were produced in their thousands. An informative and readable website was developed, which became the shop window for the campaign alongside a Facebook page and twitter feed.
